The Dangers of Buying a Stove Online

.
The Internet is a great place to save money. However, there are somethings, which should not ideally be sold or purchased online, a stove and gas fire being just two of them. This is something we feel strongly about, the main reason is safety. Stoves and gas fires are complex pieces of equipment, and must always be installed by a competent person, such as a HETAS approved engineer.
.

When you buy a stove or gas fire online, you will not know if it will fit. This is something sadly many people have found only after buying online. The right fitment doesn’t necessarily mean if it will fit in your current fireplace. There are other issues to also consider, such as flue sizes and whether the fire you are looking at is suitable for your home in terms of required heat output. Only a trained engineer will be able to say for sure.
.

When buying a stove online, you also need to also know about the availability of spare parts, should you ever need them. Some retailers selling stoves and fires online will have no availability for spares, should you ever need them. Although you may not think of this at the time, it could cause a serious issue in the future when you need spare parts.
.

Stoves and fires should always be tested or certified by an accredited agency such as HETAS. If you do ever consider buying online, you will need to ensure your specific fire has been tested or certified. Buying a fire, which is not tested or certified could be putting your safety at risk.
.

We appreciate you have a choice when it comes to buying your stove or fire. However, as a manufacture we know only too well the potential problems, which we have seen time and again. As the saying goes, buyer beware!
